What should I Read Next?
Mood:  bright
Now Playing: Great website
Topic: Books

This is a great website for students because it is a blog...

...written by a 9 year old. She has written a book called  The Magic Mystery .

She and her Mom presented at the F.B. Kagler Children's Book Festival.

This young lady has read 72 books this year and written book reports on them.

After she writes the reports, she posts them on her blog.

She does not have screen time Monday through Friday at home and she loves reading and writing.

All the proceeds from her book go to the St. Jude's Hospital.

Here is the link to her blog.  www.FantasticBooksandWhereToFindThem.org

Poem In Your Pocket Day
Topic: Poetry
Yesterday I went to the shelf and took down the poetry books from the 800's Dewey Decimal shelf and put them on the tables for students to find poems they liked.

Boys enjoyed Kwame Alexander's The Crossover. We learned about penguins with Irene Latham's
When the Sun Shines on Antartica. Students enjoyed learning through poetry on National Penguin Day.

It was Put a Poem in Your Pocket Day.

They asked for paper to write their own poems. At the public library they had a basket with poems cut out that students could pick out and put in their pocket.

They loved it!

Any day should be Put a Poem in Your Pocket Day!
