More Vegetables, Please!!

The teacher, Ms Owens almost fainted,

When she saw the 4th grade students

In Ms. Seneque's class asking for...

More carrots and celery.

The student asked, "Can I have more, Ms Felicia?"

This could be heard all around the room.

The custodian, Ms. Rustie also wanted more to taste.

Everyone wanted to know what the mystery dip was.

Some were eating these foods for the first time.

They loved the cream cheese vegetable dip...

That was eaten with the carrots and celery.

Ms. Felicia Groves is teaching students

In fourth grade classes at Grace Christian,

How tasty and healthy

It is to eat a variety of foods for a healthy body.

The nutrition expert taught them the stages of digestion and

showed how long the intestines are inside our body and

How food gives us energy ...

Once it is digested.

Ms. Felicia taught safety rules for the proper of cooking meat.

"This is a thermometer and this is the temperature the meat

Should be before it is ready to eat."

She told Ms Coney's students that...

"This way you won't get sick from eating under cooked food."

The librarian, Ms. Owens wants to know

where her carrots, celery and cream cheese dip are.

The students ate it all.

A quick trip to the grocery store will fix this snack craze!

Mood:  d'oh

First students looked at the pumpkin.

They estimated how many seeds they thought were in the pumpkin.

Then they wrote their estimate down.

Several students participated in digging the seeds out.

Finally students counted the seeds in groups of ten.

The actual total was 235 seeds.

Mood:  a-ok

Every year Mississippi picks 10 books in each category to be the best 10 books for the Magnolia Award List.

Out of this list students read and vote on their favorite book in February.

This fishing tale is a story written by Gary Alipio, a writer from the New Orleans area.

The illustrator is Sarah Gramelspacher. From the very first page this story holds your attention.

It makes you want to find out what happens at the fishing contest.

Hatcher has some things going on with his family.

Basically they are money problems and he wonders if he and his grandpa

can win enough money to help out and start a Porche fund for himself.

He doesn't know a lot about fishing but he is a good listener and fast learner.

Strange things start happening to him. Will he win the contest?

Read and find out what happens.

This story shares what it was like for a family to live through Katrina, one of the worst hurricanes ever in New Orleans.

How do you survive a storm of that magnitude? It is hard to plan for something that you have never gone through before.

The young man in this story grows and learns how to help others and solve problems.

It was so interesting and exciting that I read it in one day!

If you want to learn more about civil rights, this is the book for you.

What struggles did people face? How did they deal with the pressures of daily life?

All I can say is read, read, read!
